New farm dog chased from home by resident livestock guardian and forced to live feral for months finally trapped and rescued after HOA had to make up for negligent pawrents and call a dog rescue: ‘He's no longer disposable. He's no longer invisible.’

Farm dogs are not an unusual kind of canine to come across. But one who has been rejected by the farm that bought him and brought him there is certainly an unusual kind of scenario. Sadly, that is the tale of this pupper who was chased out of his new home on day one and never allowed to return.

Our pup was chosen for this Anatolian Shepherd dog trait to work on this farm. Technically known as a Colorado Mountain dog, this specific breed is a combination of the aforementioned shepherd along with other large farming breeds such as German Shepherds and even Heelers. They are highly prized livestock pups and usually do really rather well in farm life. Their work allows them to work through all the energy they have stored in their massive bodies and their lives are often simple and sweet. Sadly though, that simply was not the case for this particular pup, because when he arrived at his new farm home he was hidden away and barely cared for months. And on the fateful day that he was allowed out of the miserable barn he'd been locked in, the resident dog chased him away and never allowed him to return.

Now, at this point the farmer could have put up his hands, admitted that mistakes were made and make up for his transgressions. But instead of making real efforts to capture the now free doggo and bring him to a new home that could care for him, the farmer made a poorly built trap and left it unattended. For months the poor exiled pup tried to get home, but time and again he was scared away. That is until the local HOA decided enough was enough and called the heroic hoomans who came to rescue this sweet scared doggo.

Oh goodness, this whole ordeal is so heartbreaking. Can you imagine being shipped across the country, then neglected for months all on your own in a foreign place. Only to then have your release, your first taste of freedom be filled with fear and panic causing you to run for the hills. There is such a coldness in this dog’s story that it is chilling to the bone. One can only imagine the unreasonable set of circumstances that led to all this drama. It just goes to show how much is hidden from the world when it happens in these rural places.

Well, this has just escalated in a way that was hard to expect and intangible to comprehend. There is such an inner turmoil in this negligent farmer’s heart. On the one hand wanting the dog to be there in the first place, he did pay for him to be shipped across the country. But then such a disdain for the doggo and his inability to fit into the life on this farm. So much so that he would rather end this poor pup’s life than invest anymore time and effort, when from the get go they treated the poor pup like trash. All we can say is thank goodness this sweet doggo shall no longer know the fear and emptiness that must have been howling through his heart the last few months.
